This project was originally divided into two separate contracts and has now been divided into four separate contracts. Contract No. 1 included the replacement of the Island Park Drive bridges using rapid replacement technology and was constructed with the rapid lift of the new superstructure during the August long weekend 2007.

Contract No. 2 originally was for the rehabilitation of the Carling eastbound and westbound, Kirkwood and Clyde Structures using rapid lift technology as well as the rehabilitation of the Merivale Road bridges. The deck replacement of Clyde Avenue was separated out and was constructed during the August long weekend of 2008.. Contract No. 3 will be for the replacement of the Carling Ave. eastbound bridge. The remaining bridges will be completed under subsequent contracts.

Separate Design and Construction Reports will be prepared and filed for a 30-day public review for each contract.

Update: Hampton Park Pathway
November 23, 2006

At the Public Involvement Centre (PIC) on September 12, 2006, and within the Design and Construction Report (DCR) filed for a 30-day public review period from October 15 to November 16, 2006, a plan for this project for Contract 1 had shown the dirt pathway through Hampton Park (path crosses the park from the north-west corner of the Highway 417 Bridge at Island Park Drive and joins into the official NCC pathway to the north) being reinstated with a 1.0 m wide stonedust path.

This is to inform you that since the Public Involvement Centre and subsequent filing of the DCR, the National Capital Commission has decided that they do not wish to have this pathway reinstated after construction. The provision for the pathway has been removed from the contract documents.

Should you have any questions please feel free to contact the Project Team by submitting your comment(s) and/or question(s) via the website comment form, or by contacting either the Consultant Project Manager or the MTO Project Engineer listed in the Contact Us webpage.
